Anyone born in the 80’s will tell you that Jim Carrey has been a major part of their lives, he has been entertaining us for years, mostly with his comedy, but in this trailer for his new movie “Dark Crimes” it looks like we won’t be seeing Jim’s Comedic side.

Release Date: May 18th, 2018

Nerdy Reviews: “A Quiet Place” Don’t Eat Popcorn, Don’t Sip your Drink, Better Yet Don’t Move, Just Watch.

The hype surrounding “A Quiet Place” has been tremendous, the marketing machine behind this movie certainly accomplished it’s task of generating buzz. The trailers were mysterious and compelling, and I immediately marked this down as I movie I needed to see.

I have never been much of a scary movie in theater’s kind of guy but based on the reviews, I bit my lip, and decided to buy my ticket.

The movie establishes the importance of silence very early on and it assures you that, even without the spoken word, you will bond with the character’s emotionally.

As the story move’s forward it begins to delve into the day to day life in this new world. It seems the whole point of this portion of the movie is to reaffirm the importance of silence, ultimately preparing the viewers for what’s coming next. The only way to properly communicate this portion of the movie is – the deafening silence will leave you clenching your armrest in anticipation for what’s next.

There is one climactic moment that puts into motion the events that will forever change the Abbot’s family lives. Once this happens the whole movie takes a turn and it becomes a incredibly stressful, suspenseful, and thrilling roller coaster of emotions.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying this movie is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen but it is by far the most stressful, John Krasinski did a excellent job of leaving you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I felt physically drained after this movie.

This movie tops my list as one of the best thrillers I’ve ever seen, the cinematography, the dialogue (Or lack their of), and just about every aspect of the film meshed together beautifully to make a masterpiece of modern thriller cinema.

The acting was incredible, John and Emily were perfect together and the Kids, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds showed the emotionally  range of seasoned Hollywood Veterans.

Well done John and cast, Well done.

Nerdy Trailer Alert: Eli Roth’s “The House with a Clock in its Walls” has got us excited to See a Kids Movie

I randomly stumble upon this trailer while doing my nightly trailer marathon and I’ve got to say something about this movie makes me think it will be a delight for the whole family. One of those Halloween type movie you watch with the kids.

Jack Black and Cate Blanchett star in this spooky look at an old house filled with timely surprises. One thing that stood out was how dark this trailer was, after some research, it turns out Eli Roth is Directing which means that, although this is billed as a kids movie, it will likely be dark and twisted. The House with Clocks in its Walls is slated to be released September 2018.

Anyone else as excited as I am to see this?

5 Essential Tips for Watching a Scary Movie

With “A Quiet Place” being released tomorrow, I’ve complied a list of 5 Essential Tips for Watching a Scary Movie.

Make sure to have a pillow or arm to grab onto during the build up to any scene you know will make you jump. This will literally save your life, because, as we all know hiding behind a pillow confuses would be murders/ghosts.

Make sure to have a Happy/Feel good movie to watch after the horror movie! This is essential to surviving any scary movie. What kind of a psycho murder goes to bed directly after watching a terrifying movie? Popular choices include any Disney movie, almost any Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler movie.

Drink all the wine prior to starting the movie. I cannot stress this enough! I can’t even begin to tell you how many wine stains have accumulated on my couch from watching scary movies.

Check in with family and friends at the end of the movie and before bed. We all know that by watching particularly terrifying movies we increase the likely hood of those things happening to us. It’s Science. By checking in with family and friends we are doing the opposite of what every person that is murdered in a scary movie does, thus, escaping a similar fate.

Remember it’s just a movie and it’s probably not going to happen to you. Get in bed, relax, take it easy, don’t think about the fact that you just witnessed some truly terrifying shit and that if you shut your eyes you’ll likely be murdered. Also, always remember, if you get under your covers you are protected from most scary things! Again, Science!
