Oscar Alert: Will Sam Mendes win Best Director for 1917?

“Anyone who appreciates cinema should see this movie, any casual movie lovers should also see this movie, as a matter of fact everyone should see this movie.”
-NerdyPopcorn

Colin Firth

Sam Mendes is at the top of the list for the Oscar for best director, if he wins it’ll best his second, he won at the 72nd Academy Awards for his first major motion picture, American Beauty. Since then he has Directed numerous big budget movies, none of the were met with the same critical acclaim, however, 1917 has. 21 years after his first win Mendes, who still shoot movies on film instead of digital, is taking us on the journey of a pair of British servicemen tasked with delivering a message in the middle of battle.

The cinematography is beautiful, the flow of the camera as it follows the character is flawless , even if you don’t like war movies you’ll be mesmerized by the camera work. The movie has a beautiful amount of tension, which is a result of the music, done by Thomas Newman, whose resume also includes American Beauty. What I absolutely love about this movie is that you could never guess what happens next, Mendes does a fantastic job capturing the uncertainty of war, which gives you a sense of dread as you watch the story unfold.

The two lead actors are virtually unknown, but Mendes accounts for this by surrounding them with Hollywood royalty, within the first 15 minutes you’ll see appearances by Colin Firth and Andrea Scott, brief but strong performances by both. 1917 is a perfect example of what can be achieved when you have some of the best in the world behind the scenes, the acting was fabulous, but what makes this story special is the collaboration between director/writer, cinematography, music, and photography.

This movie will win both Best Picture and Best Director. Entertainment value is through the roof, minimal slow and drawn out parts, and never a dull moment. Anyone who appreciates cinema should see this movie, any casual movie lovers should also see this movie, as a matter of fact everyone should see this movie.

Confirmed: Indiana Jones 5 will be Harrison Ford’s last

Steve Spielberg just confirmed that Indiana Jones 5 will be the last time Harrison Ford plays the iconic character, it was also confirmed that we will be getting more Indiana Jones movies after the 5th film. The movie is set to be released July 20, 2020

Spielberg was said “This will be Harrison Ford’s last Indiana Jones movie, I am pretty sure, but it will certainly continue after that,”

He also discussed the possibility of transitioning the iconic character to a female, Spielberg notes that he knows this may outrage fans, however, he feels that it is time for a change.

“We’d have to change the name from Jones to Joan. And there would be nothing wrong with that,” Said Spielberg

Male or female I am still genuinely excited for more Indiana Jones films, I personally love any movie dealing with Treasure hunting. Also, I transition to a female lead would be a welcomed change, I’d be very interested to see which actress’s would be considered for this role.

Post who you think would make a great female Indiana Jones in the comment section below!

Top iTunes Movie Charts with quick reviews April 1, 2018

U.S. iTunes Top Purchase/Rentals April 1st, 2018:

  1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Amazing but I’m Biased, not sure that it was better than the Force Awakens but damn I loved this movie (And every Star Wars Movie)
  2. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle – Entertaining but felt like it wasn’t a good enough remake
  3. The Greatest Showman – It was alright, the soundtrack was great, the movie was just ok, if you’re into musicals you may enjoy more than I did.
  4. Molly’s Game – It was just ok, I thought it was going to be incredible, but it wasn’t if it wasn’t based on a true story it would be awful.
  5. The Foreigner – Jackie Chan action/thriller, can’t go wrong if you like Jackie, the story was kind of good too, definitely an enjoyable movie for action lovers.
  6. Pitch Perfect 3 – Not as good as the first one, or the second one, I think they should have stopped after the first one but that’s just me.
  7. I, Tonya – Great movie, the acting was amazing, and the story was crazy, for the first time since reading about this I felt bad for Tonya.
  8. Thor: Ragnarok – Marvel does it again with another action-packed superhero movie, my only beef is that Marvel keeps making comedy a big part of their superhero movies, still incredible though.
  9. Coco – Disney/Pixar does it again, love this movie, the songs are amazing and the visualize are on point. if you like animated movies, you’ll love this.
  10. Downsizing – Weird movie, very very frustrating, and I swear I wanted to smack Matt Damon’s character a few times but it was an interesting take on the future, worth watching once but don’t expect much.

FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD – In the New Trailer Dumbledore steals the Show

The new trailer for FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD was released today, I’m sure every Harry Potter fan is excited to see this trailer, it looks like Dumbledore (Played by Jude Law) will be stealing the show, just take a look at how he carries himself in the trailer.

Johnny Depp is back and looking all sorts of weird, he grew his hair out (Thankfully) and is a much darker and twisted version of Grindelwald . Compare his look in the pictures below, this alone leads me to believe the sequel is going to be better than the original.
