Fact’s About the Making of the First Jurassic Park

As we all know Jurassic Park is one of the most memorable movies for a generation of cinema fans. I remember it as being the first movie I ever saw in theaters, being absolutely terrified by the surround sound, thinking a dinosaur was waiting behind me to take a bite. It also sparked a ever-lasting love of films and filmmaking in me that I will cherish forever. In honor of the upcoming blockbuster Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom coming to theaters on June 22, 2018, I’ve put together a list of some little known fact about the Marking of the first Jurassic Park. Enjoy!

1. The T-Rex would often unexpectedly turn on without warning, Terrifying the crew!

Producer Kathleen Kennedy recalled, “The T. rex went into the heebie-jeebies sometimes. Scared the crap out of us. We’d be, like, eating lunch, and all of a sudden a T. rex would come alive. At first we didn’t know what was happening, and then we realized it was the rain. You’d hear people start screaming.”

2. The T-Rex wasn’t suppose to break through the glass roof of the Jeep while trying to eat the kids.

In the original script, the T-Rex was suppose to bump into the glass, frightening the kids, and then pull away. What actually happened was the T-Rex broke right through the glass causing to fall on the kids inside. If you watch the movie again, note how realistic the screams are!

3. Every film in the Jurassic Franchise has a reference to another Spielberg movie.

Jurassic Park: Shortly after Nedry makes his first appearance in the control room, during his argument with Hammond, one can clearly see Jaws playing in a small video window on one of Nedry’s computer screens. That movie was, of course, also directed by Steven Spielberg.

The Lost World: When the bus crashes into the front of the video rental store, a poster can be seen for Hook, which Spielberg also directed.

Jurassic Park III: When the paleontologists enter the bar for dinner with the Kirbys, you can see a Jurassic Park (1993) pinball machine in the background.

Jurassic World: The great white shark being eaten in Jurassic World is a clear homage to Jaws

5. The Dinosaurs in the First Jurassic Park Were the First Fully CG Flesh and Blood Creatures Ever on Screen

Jurassic-Park1

For the animatronic dinosaurs, Spielberg hired Stan Winston (because of his amazing work on Aliens). Winston built the life-size lizards, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops. Spielberg also hired stop-motion puppeteer Phil Tippett to animate model dinosaurs that would be superimposed in post-production, and Dennis Muren (fresh from creating the molten-metal morphing effects for Terminator 2: Judgment Day) to see if dinosaurs could be created using computer-generated imagery.

The dinosaurs Muren created on the computer were the first major flesh-and-blood CGI creatures in movie history. When he screened an early test of wire-frame dinosaurs in motion for the rest of the filmmakers, Tippett realized he was out of a job. “I think I’m extinct,” he told Spielberg, who liked the quip so much that he put it in the movie. In reality, Tippett stayed on as an adviser to the computer animators, using his knowledge of paleontology and pantomime to instruct the effects artists in how dinosaurs should move.

5 Thoughts when you have Social Anxiety and you’re at the Movie Theater

“I have to pee, oh god, everyones going to look at me! They’re going to know I have to pee, or worst they’ll think it’s a number 2, I’m fine, I’ll wait till the movies done, its fine”

Ready Player One Premier’s at SXSW

Steven Spielberg’s newest Blockbuster Ready Player One (March 28th, 2018) premiered at SXSW to mixed reviews. Some people are hailing it as Spielberg’s return to nostalgic blockbusters and others saying it offers “…nothing new or exciting..” – After going through hundred’s of tweets, I would say the majority of people loved it. The common trend seems to be that normal movie goers love the movie but critics are picking it apart on technicalities on it’s Story Telling.

I think critics need to understand that movies don’t have to be perfect, sometimes, movies are perfectly nostalgic and are made to make evoke happiness, instead of being a commentary on social injustices. I’ll update this as soon as I see the movie.

Check out the trailer and a few tweets below…

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22nd, 2018) – This installment in the Jurassic franchise is being directed by J.A Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible, A Monster Calls), after watching the trailer I have a feeling this will be the most frightening film in the Jurassic collection.

Deadpool 2 (May 18th, 2018) – I mean it’s hard not to get excited about this movie. Ryan Reynolds is back as everybody’s favorite douchbag, Deadpool! Josh Brolin being added as the villain is awesome, I mean the guy is tough as nails, and is the perfect man to play Cable!

Christopher Nolan Marathon Time

Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite film-makers, I feel in love with his movies when I watch Memento (2000) 18 years ago, and have loved every movie he’s made since then. Today we list the ultimate Christopher Nolan Marathon list, Enjoy!

1. Memento (2000) – This movie only took 25 days to shoot

2. Insomnia (2002) – The only movie where Nolan is not credited for writing the movie, even though, he wrote the final draft

3. Batman Begins (2005) – Nolan was so fascinated with Cillian Murphy’s bright blue eyes that he kept trying to find reasons to have Crane remove his glasses.

4. The Prestige (2006) – Nolan meticulously studied Tesla’s experiments to recreate them with integrity. Especially the light globe scene.

5. The Dark Knight (2008) – Heath Ledger created the make-up for The Joker, when Nolan saw it, he immediately asked his make up team to recreate it.

6. Inception (2010) – Leonardo DiCaprio provided a lot of feedback and changes to the actual script. Nolan was quoted as saying “Once Leo came on board, I spent months and months sitting with him and discussing the script”

7. The Dark Knight Rises (2012) – This movie was the fastest to shoot out of all of Nolan’s Batman movies.

8. Interstellar (2014) – The plot of this movie was so secretive, Matthew McConaughey didn’t even revel the plot to his wife until the post-production was complete.

9. Dunkirk (2017) – The ticking sounds that serve as the crucial theme on the Dunkirk’s score were recorded by Hans Zimmer from one of Nolan’s own pocket watches.

Hype Movie Alert: Jurassic World 2: Fallen Kingdom

The first movie I ever saw in theaters was Jurassic Park, so it should come as no surprise that I am super excited for the release on the latest installment in the Jurassic Universe.

So far the biggest news I’ve seen is that Jeff Goldblum is set to return as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Ladies and Gent’s Get your popcorn ready for June 22, 2018 that’s when Fallen Kingdom is set to be released.

Hype Movie Alert: A Quiet Place

Top 5 Old Movies You Need to Rewatch Now

Good Will Hunting (1997)

Something about watching snobby upper-class people fawn over a seemingly average everyday Genius is heart warming. The dialogue between Robin Williams and Matt Damon is incredible and the scene when Matt Damon has an emotional break through with Robin Williams still makes me tear up.

The Godfather Trilogy (1972, 1974, 1990)

Mario Puzo’s The Godfather, one of the most iconic movie trilogy’s ever created. The performances by all actor’s in this movie are mesmerizing, the dedication to making this a one of a kind movie, for example, do you remember the scene with the horse’s head in the movie producers bed? Guess what, they got a real horses head from a dog food company and used it without telling the actor, so when we moved the sheets and saw the head his screams are genuine as he was not expecting to see a REAL severed horse head in the scene.

E.T. The Extra-terrestrial (1982)

This movie was nominated for 9 OSCARS! A Sci-Fi movie about a weird looking alien and the group of kids who found him received more Oscar noms than some dramatic serious movies that are made with the sole intention of receiving awards. This movie was actually suppose to be very different, Spielberg originally intended this movie to be about a family that is terrorized by a group of aliens, he decided that it would be better suited as a family friendly movie and because of that we have this master piece.

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Another Speilberg movie makes the list, but are you surprised?, he is one of the most iconic storytellers. Indiana Jones is just a fun movie to watch, everything about it, you have a hero, a villain, and a whole lot of action in between. Harrison Ford cemented his place as a leading man with this movie. The iconic scene in the market when the crowd parts ways to reveal a sword swinging bad guy, the audience thinking a big over the top fight scene is about to take place, instead Indie pulls his gun out a shoots him! Guess what, that was improved by Harrison Ford and is one of my favorite parts of the movie.

Forrest Gump (1994)

Everyone should have seen this movie at least once by now, the story of a simple man, and his journey through life. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, he seem like he’d be a nice guy if you ran into him on the street. Also based on everything that’s going on in Hollywood it’s nice to know that there are still some good guys out there. This movie garnered a total of thirteen Academy Award nominations, of which it won six, including Best Picture, Best Visual Effects, Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), and Best Actor (Tom Hanks). While you’re rewatching this movie take a close look at any picture of Forrest through out the film? Notice anything? HIS EYES ARE CLOSED IN ANY PICTURE OF HIM IN THE MOVIE!

Let me know what you think of the picks for oldies to re-watch. Thanks!

The Shape of Water wins Best Picture

Guillermo del Toro does it again! A visually stunning movie with excellent performances from the entire cast. I can’t believe a movie that would of been pitched as a thriller/musical/interspecies love story got made, let alone, won Oscar’s and is being regarded as one of the best movies of the year.

Online Release Date: March 13th, 2018

It was an “uncomfortable” story line and some people might not like it but damnnnnnnn it was engaging and made me want to keep watching.

FUN FACT: Guillermo del Toro was drunk at a Golden Globes party when he pitched the idea to Hawkins

Definitely worth watching!
